acknowledge the receipt of your letter X 6895/4111/505

of the 6th of November, regarding the remuneration of the

Chief Justice, Hong Kong, for acting as appeal Judge at

Shanghai, and to request you to inform Secretary

Sir Austen Chamberlain that before considering the matter

further he proposes to await the views of the Governor of

Hong Kong, to whom a copy of this correspondence is being

referred.

2. The Governor will be asked to obtain and forward

formal receipts from Sir H.Gollan for the payments already

made to him as Appeal Judge, as requested in paragraph 4 of

your letter.
